This is a very busy passenger station. This is where the East Coast Line branches out from the mainline. There are a few mail trains from Gemas that goes to Singapore and all the way to Tumpat, Kelantan. Every express train that's heading south must stop at this station. Gemas also has a big yard and depoh. There is one turntable here too, for turning locos and coaches(for maintenance reason).
