As you can see, the striped metal plate is not original. They replaced the grile with this ugly
metal plate. The second pic shows behind the plate and last pic is the coupler used by KTM at that
time. I like the way Christopher Nair(a railway fan from Singapore) calls this coupler, Male/Female Coupler. Now KTMB has converted
to Knuckle Couplers, which is standard everywhere.
