15 class shunters were the first diesel locomotives in KTM. It was introduced in 1948 and pretty much spelled the doom of steam locomotives. It was built by the defunct English Electric company which also made the 20 and 22 mainline locomotives. The photo is taken by Brian Raybould in March 1983 which shows a 15 class doing some shunting work at Tanjung Pagar Railway Station in Singapore. The small wagon behind is actually an adapter between MCA and Knuckle coupler. One of the shunters survived and is preserved. It was previously displayed outside Butterworth Railway Station. It has been moved to Sungai Petani Station.
