Sorry for the blur photo above but it was one or even the earliest photo of 22 class that i have taken. It was taken using a Nokia 6600 because at that time my point and shoot camera couldn’t handle night shots at all. Very nostalgic to look at this photo because at that time there were still 22 class locomotives running under KTMB.
Class 22 was built by English Electric Co. It was introduced to Malaysia in 1971. It is still in service in 2002 but lately is very hard see any at Kuala Lumpur. KTMB most probably trying to phase this class out. This locomotive’s horsepower is 1710.
This are very sad photos taken at Gemas . This 22 class locos were being scrapped. Taken in 2nd August 2004.
22110 is preserved at National Museum, Kuala Lumpur although the body is not of that number. The original number is 22121 ANAK BUKIT.
